It’s no secret that I love, love, love books. Like seriously, let me have all of the books and I will be a happy camper but my mom gets so mad at me when she asks what I want for Christmas or my birthday and I respond books. She claims she never knows which ones to get, yada yada, yada and then I can’t think of anything else to say. This year I sat down and thought about things I like and most of them, not surprisingly, have to do with books or things I use while reading books. If you have someone in your life who is as big a book nerd as I am then you can’t go wrong with this list of gifts for the book lover.
(These gifts are meant for the book-loving adult in your life. If you would like to see some ideas of books to gift kids check out my Gift Book post here.)
Punny T-Shirts: I admit it. I’m a nerd and I’m damn proud of it. I love books and I love words so naturally, I love a good pun. I wouldn’t be surprised if a funny shirt that the book lover in your life can wear with jeans or leggings will make their book-loving heart happy. Get lit! Hahahaha! Get it?!?
Quirky Socks: Hello? We like to be comfy and cozy while we snuggle up with our books. Check out these fun socks because who doesn’t love that sweet little Dobby?
Book Sneakers from Groove bags: These are so much fun and I have these at the top of my own wishlist. They look like Converse but they have books on them. BOOKS! Plus they run a tad bit wider than Converse so if you have wider feet like me they won’t be killing you at the end of the day. Insert all of the heart eyes here.
Bookish Tote Bags: We’ve gotta carry our books somewhere and we wear our bookish pride like a badge of honor so why not get a tote to show it off while you’re the go? I found this library card one on Amazon but there are a ton of punny ones on Etsy too.
Book Sleeve: We book lovers take good care of our books and we carry them EVERYWHERE. We hate when the covers get bent or the corners get messed up so a book sleeve is a perfect way to protect it. They come in different sizes and cool prints too. This calavera one is to die for.
Cool or Unique Bookmarks: There are so many cool bookmarks. My current faves are this metals hooks that you can buy with charms attached or add your own. You also can’t go wrong with one that features coffee and books like this one:
Book Decor: Think bookends, framed literary quotes, unique decor and I’m sure the book lover on your list will enjoy it. There is so much cool stuff out there. I’m obsessed with this custom folded book available on Etsy.
Coffee Mugs: Book lovers tend to like coffee, tea or hot cocoa for solo reading. My own personal favorite way to do some self-care is to snuggle up with a good cup of coffee and a book. Like my shirts, I like my coffee mugs to be funny and unique. I’ll happily sip my coffee out of this professional bookworm mug.
Wine Glasses: We like coffee or tea for solo reading but get us all together for book club and we’re breaking out the wine. we’re all together for a book club or game night a wine glass is super handy. Consider one with a fun quote and maybe get a set of 4 for when they entertain. How cuyuuuuute is this one?!?
Book Lover’s Journal: I know several people who keep notebooks with summaries, quotes, and overviews of books as they read them. This is the perfect gift for them to do that in a notebook specially designed for this purpose.
Audible Membership: Not everyone likes audio books and I’ll admit that I was never one for audiobooks. It felt like cheating and sometimes the narration was just so hard to get into! I caved and got an audible account last year so that I could listen to a celebrity memoir that several people had highly recommended, on our road trip home for Christmas. I discovered that I loved listening to that genre of book on audio and from there began branching into fiction books. Now I love them especially because it allows me to read more books in the same amount of time. Now I can listen to a book during my commute and read a physical book at the same time in the evenings. It’s perfect because hello…so many books and so little time!
Which gift do you think the book nerd on your list would love? Which would you love for yourself??? I’d love to hear your feedback!
